CONFIRMED! Borussia Dortmund reveal Ousmane Dembele is ‘on the way’ to Barcelona

Barcelona have agreed to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for £110million, according to reports in France.

L’Equipe claim the Catalan giants have finally landed their man following a summer-long chase.

The 20-year-old was one of the targets, along with Philippe Coutinho, Barca had identified as a potential replacement for Neymar following his world record move to Paris Saint-Germain.

But after giving up their pursuit of the Liverpool star, Barca have moved quickly to wrap up a deal for Dembele.

The French forward only joined Borussia Dortmund from Rennes for £13m last summer.

He scored six goals and provided 12 assists in his one season in the Bundesliga and also made his debut for the senior France team last term, going on to score one goal in seven appearances.

Dembele was desperate to move to Barcelona after learning of their interest, and even skipped Dortmund training two weeks ago which resulted in him being suspended and forced to train on his own.

Barca have been keen on landing the youngster ever since Neymar’s departure to Paris was confirmed, and it was initially reported that Dortmund would not consider selling him for anything less than £128million this summer.

The German club confirmed via a statement earlier this month that they had rejected a bid from Barcelona which 'did not correspond to the player’s extraordinary footballing abilities, nor to the present economic market situation of the European transfer market’.

However, it seems the Spanish giants have landed their man after all, and for a little less – although the deal would still make him the second most expensive footballer in history.
