  • I'm not surprised to see Crustacean King reign as King of the Water Splinter because of how important tank healers are in the game. The protect ability that grants +2 armor to friendly monsters combined with the tank heal allows lower health monsters to act as tanks. Add in the ranged attack and the King adds damage to the opponent while adding health and armor to its own team. Solid tradeoff.
  • Ruler of the Seas is a big part of why Water is my main Splinter. The blast ability is huge in getting rid of those pesky high attack, low health monsters sandwiched in the middle of squads and swiftness enhances any lineup built on speed. Ruler of the Seas played with Phantom of the Abyss is one of the best 1-2 punches in the game because of the Phantom's already high speed. Use Valanmor as your summoner and your team becomes almost impossible to hit!
  • Sneak is obviously one of the most valued abilities because it allows you to attack an opposing team from the back where they might not be expecting it. Level 10 Sabre Shark is a high melee attack, high speed monster that adds versatility to any lineup.
  • Spineback Turtle has value because of its low mana and thorns ability. The low speed and high armor/health make it a great/cheap tank in reverse speed matches.
  • Another lower mana option, Mischievous Mermaid combines its high speed with the dodge ability and becomes very difficult to hit. If a summoner with + magic is used, the level 6 hits for 5 magic damage!
  • Medusa is a must play when all monsters have knock out ability. The stun ability can take out monsters with huge attacks for a round and allow other monsters to completely knock it out. Low mana, solid magic atack, speed and health; Medusa is viable in all rulesets, but thrives in knockout.

  • Naga Warrior is one of my favorite Water cards because the retaliate ability combined with enrage can decimate opposing lineups in an instant.
  • I mentioned before, but Phantom of the Abyss played with Ruler of the Seas and Valnamor is like a cheetah that drank a Red Bull on ice skates... (?) you're not gonna catch it.

Tier 3

  • I actually really like The Kraken, especially with high mana caps, because I can hide my fast/magic monsters behind him and get them some free shots in for a couple rounds.
  • Ice Pixie is one of my most used monsters because, when used with Valnamor, the 2 mana card becomes super fast, plus flying ability, with decent magic attack and powerful shatter ability that wipes out an enemy's armor.
