The Poison ability is a very deadly one to use against your opponent. It does two damage per round and most opponents don't have the defenses for it, making their units very vulnerable. There aren't many cards with the ability but the Death Splinter does have two once you combine a few cards together.
Probably my favorite unit with the Poison ability in the Silver league is the Venari Bonesmith. Once you upgrade him to level 4, you get the Poison ability which is a very nice addition to his Life Leech ability.
The other unit with Poison in the Death splinter is the Haunted Spider. With two doses of poison, there's a significant chance of doing poison damage to your opponent each round. Note that it isn't guaranteed that you'll succeed with the poisoning. As far as i can tell, it is about a 50% success rate.
Here's a battle where Poison worked very well and completely destroyed my opponent's strategy. My opponent was looking to use the Taunt and Shield Repair strategy in this Weak Magic ruleset battle. It would have worked too, if you see how much of the damage he was able to repair each round. But that's where the Poison came in handy.
As an added bonus, the Venari Bonesmith has more life than when the battle started. Also, with two units out there trying to poison everybody, sooner or later, the opponent's units are going to be afflicted. Like the Living Lava in this case next.
Just a matter of time before victory was won and I still had two units to spare. You can watch a replay of the battle here: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_f03e4e811cb1f4a551291d6c5e32a740&ref=charcoalbuffet
The poison ability is rarely used in battle in the Silver and Gold leagues and that's precisely what makes it very deadly. Most opponents will cater for heavy magic or melee damage or sneak attacks but few think about being poisoned. The additional two damage per round can make a big difference against a tank that's getting healed or repaired.
On a related note, I'm looking to get my laptop plugged into my TV for some more serious gaming. I wonder how Splinterlands would play with a 50+ inch screen.
