Se trata de una calle estrecha normalmente abarrotada de turistas, al margen de la cual se encuentra el pequeño río Trejo. La característica principal de esta calle, como su propio nombre indica, es que sus casas se encuentran escavadas en la montaña y reciben la luz del sol durante la mayor parte del día.

It is a narrow street normally crowded with tourists, at the margin of which is the small river Trejo. The main characteristic of this street, as its name suggests, is that its houses are dug in the mountains and receive sunlight for most of the day.

Setenil de las bodegas is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. It has become famous for its picturesque urban structure, declared a historical complex, whose center is embedded in the Tagus formed by the river Guadalporcún as it passes through the city.

Forma parte de la ruta de los pueblos blancos, y está conectado a la línea ferroviaria Bobadilla-Algeciras a través de la estación de Setenil. Sus coordenadas geográficas son 36º 51 N, 5º 11 O, se encuentra a una altitud de 640 metros y dista 157 kilómetros de la capital de provincia, Cádiz. En 2016 contaba con 2.809 habitantes. La extensión de su término municipal es de 82 km² y tiene una densidad de 36,45 hab/km².

Ubicado a 96 Km de Málaga, 116 Km de Sevilla y a 135 Km de Cádiz, la mejor forma de llegar a Setenil de las Bodegas es en coche ya que no dispone de línea ferroviaria y la estación de autobuses más cercana es la de Alcalá del Valle situada a 4,67 kilómetros donde hay conexiones en autobús hasta Málaga y otras capitales de provincia.

Tras los primeros momentos de la repoblación y el repartimiento de casas y tierras, Setenil comenzó una nueva etapa en la que sus vecinos, un buen número de los cuales pertenecía al estamento hidalgo, tales como las familias Ortiz, Zamudio o Guzmán, vivían de los cultivos de la vid y los cereales, del aprovechamiento del monte, de la ganadería y de la pesca.

Las calles están adaptadas al curso del río Guadalporcún y sus habitantes han sabido aprovechar el tajo que el río forma en la roca para construir las casas. Este tipo de viviendas tiene el nombre de“abrigo bajo rocas”, las casas no están excavadas en la roca como en sucede en el Sacromonte, sino que se cierran las paredes rocosas para después hacer las casas. Esto ha dado lugar a rincones tan bonitos como las calles de la Cuevas de la Sombra y de las Cuevas del Sol, que tienen la particularidad de que solo podemos ver la roca de la montaña, en lugar del cielo, cuando miramos hacia arriba.

Entre todas las fiestas del pueblo de Setenil destaca la Semana Santa, declarada de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía, que goza de gran arraigo popular y tradición cultural y en la que es singular la rivalidad entre las dos hermandades, la Santa Vera Cruz (los blancos) y Nuestro Padre Jesús (los negros), rivalidad que se tradujo en la llamada "guerra de las bandas".

A mi parecer, es muy poco peculiar este pueblito, ya que esta el lema de tu casa sobre la roca, no el de, la roca sobre tu casa 😃 😃.

Trabajo de mi propia investigación, motivado a como se formó este pueblito, con su construcción escabada debajo de esta gran roca, algo que no se ve todos los días y conocimiento que deseo compartir con toda la comunidad.

In my opinion, is very little peculiar this town, as this is the motto of your house on the rock, not the rock on your house 😃 😃.

I work my own research, motivated to how this little town was formed, with its construction dug under this great rock, something that is not seen every day and knowledge that I want to share with the whole community.
