Sony Mobile Rumoured To Cease Operations In Middle East, Africa And Turkey

We have always been huge fans of Sony’s smartphones. They come with great cameras, a refined UI and excellent build quality. So it comes across as a surprise when it comes to what we are hearing from the market.

The phones come with great hardware and software, however, they have never had any feature that made them stand out of the crowd as unique pieces of tech. Back in 2014, the company had to write off $1.7 billion from their mobile division and it looks like things haven’t really gotten better for the company.

According to various industry analysts, Sony was expected to slowly retreat from the mobile market. According to Venture Beat’s Evan Blass, the company might be doing exactly that, but in select markets such as Middle East, Africa and Turkey.

Bad news for Sony Mobile fans in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa: I'm hearing that the company will "shut down its operations and offices" in the region by October.

It may be a huge blow to the Sony fanbase, but a company has to do what it has to do to keep afloat. We have reached out to Sony for a comment on the same and we will update the story if and when we hear back from them.
