If you’ve got a few minutes to get hyped about crypto’s future, watch at least this early part in Monday’s episode of Philip DeFranco’s online show. I’ve timestamped it and the segment is only for a few minutes -
For those that don’t follow his channel, DeFranco has been a long-time advocate for YouTube content creators who have suffered demonetization and censorship by the platform. He himself is very open about the difficulties of operating within YouTube’s current system.
It’s also important to note that DeFranco is a transparent investor in the PROPS Project which will be a token than powers decentralized streaming services. He is one of the first mainstream video influencers that has been open with his investment and enthusiasm in cryptocurrency/blockchain.
But it looks like the team behind BAT (Basic Attention Token) and the Brave browser saw an opportunity and went in to poach DeFranco for their own platform. Brave already allows users to reward their favorite sites and creators regardless of platform with their native token.
We've seen a number of prominent YouTube creators already begin to experiment with Steem applications, in particular @dtube but I've yet to see someone of this magnitude speak so clearly of the benefits of blockchain to creative video makers. Hopefully this is a sign of big movements to come.
