The Blues started the match as slight underdogs after their poor form & inconsistency over the course of the season, especially after they where trashed 3-0 at St James' Park in their last league match of the season a week ago.

The only goal of the match was scored by Belgian superstar Eden Hazard from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute, after he was brought down in the box by Phil Jones.

The win meant that Chelsea have now secured their 8th FA Cup triumph, with their most recent being the 2011/12 2-1 win over Liverpool.

It also resulted in a disappointing trophy-less season for The Red Devils, a step down from last season after investing heavily in the squad in both this season's transfer windows.

They dominated possession of the ball throughout the 90 minutes, as Chelsea stayed with 9 men behind the ball after they went ahead, but they could not make the most of their opportunities and they where repeatedly denied by Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, who had a good match between the sticks.

Yesterday's match could well be Antonio Conte's last one for The Blues, and he had conceded before the match that even a victory may not save him from getting the boot after a disappointing 5th league place finish.

It was also incredibly Antonio Conte's first cup win in his managerial career, as he had only won league titles before yesterday's triumph.
