Took these pictures of light's are there alien ? Fear not ,it's only my fairy lights on the hallway landing ! Had a spare strand of them and wondered what to do with them, so I thought why couldn't it light the hallway so we plonked them on the floor, leaves a very nice glow but enough to see what your doing , and it saves electric ! Though by these pictures it looks pitch black !
It was 135 years ago that the terms " fairy light's " was said at the Savoy theatre in London.The lights were run by electricity with 1,200 bulbs created by a Sir Joseph Swan , he was then hired to create mini lights to be put on fairy costumes for a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's" Iolanthe ", the show was a success along with the lights fitted with batteries among the high society ladies for fashion ! Then a year later Edward Johnson a colleague of Mr.Swan and arch rival to Thomas Edison became the first person to put fairy lights on a Christmas tree which now is a Christmas tradition !
Nowadays fairy lights are being used with LED instead of bulbs , and there can be bought quite cheaply and add a bit of light to any home !!
