As Christians, the world is very small and a temporal place for us to live. Everything God created are in full or partly of a dynamic nature.
As humans , we are subjected to time and change which may be the reason your uncle promised to assist you, though he had the intention of doing what he said in the first place, no doubt, but when it's time to fulfill his promise the story will changed : It may not necessarily be his intention to disappoint you, but due to the dynamic nature of human and time.
Sometimes ago, in America, I heard of a governor, after winning election, the day he was to be inaugurated, he was paralyzed.
Also, I heard a story about a man, going to work, before he went in his car , he told his family that he would come back with goodies, but he never return alive.
