Janaka was a great king, loved by people. He was a great warrior , a yogi. He had no children. As part of yagna Janak ploughed land. At the time of ploughing, he found a female child.
she was found in the furrow, she was named as Sita. Sita was a incarnation of goddess Lakshmi,wife of Maha Vishnu.
She was very much loved by Janaka. She attained the age of marriage. Janak announced that Sita would marry the prince who can move, lift, ben and string the ancient bow of Siva presented to him by Devas.
Five thousand strong men brought the bow to the sabha. With the permission of Viswamitra Rama lifted the bow and strung the bov.
