his electricity sensitivity was because this way he got people's attention, people tried to help him deal with his electricity sensitivity issue, but the problem was elsewhere
this means the subconscious could actually recognise what a problem is for the person and try to get attention by any way to get people's empathy so they notice that something's wrong, though :
the subconscious can't talk or give messages to the person because i don't really think the subconcious understands the reality that we live in. So all it can do is say that there is a problem and signal it to the other humans but it stops there, no one could understand that chuck's problem was with jimmy, that he never trusted jimmy because he blamed him for the death of this father and he also was jealous that their mother only called jimmy's name when she was dying
so chuck couldn't touch people and he wasn't aware that it was a problem for him, he did tried consciously to tell a joke to his wife, this is when he noticed he couldn't touch people like jimmy
