I heard the news today Oh Boy??? #1 SHOPLIFTING -> SHRINKAGE

There I was listening to the radio this morning and a news item was discussing shoplifting in Finland. Apparently millions of Euro are lost each year because people shoplift. Well one retailer observed someone stealing from his shop and it was all caught on Closed Circuit TV.

He took the footage and posted it on Facebook and remarked that the police had been contacted and that he would be prosecuting for loss of revenue and stolen goods. Well when the video was viewed the shoplifters life became a hell. He lost face in the community and was being continually embarrassed.

There was a court case and surprise of surprises the retailer was ordered to pay the shoplifter 400 € because he had violated the thief's privacy.

It is not called theft it is called SHRINKAGE. I suppose that is the non offensive politically correct way of saying it. The items that get SHRUNK (hehehe) are mobile phones and accessaries, batteries, Footwear, Razor blades, Wines and Spirits. So when shaving our legs to enhance our new footwear we can change our batteries in our new mobile phones and call up our friends to get drunk on the booze we have just acquired. And perhaps have a philosophical discussion about the 8th commandment in the old testament... Thou shalt not steal!!!

It is a crazy world we live in when the wrong doer gets rewarded.
