The Cruiser Aurora is famous landmark of Saint-Peterburg. The ship is a simbol of the Russian Revolution. The Cruiser Aurora was built in 1903 it St.Peterburg. The ship took part in Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905. She was one of the few surviving ship after the Battle of Tsushima where most of the russian ships were sunk by japanese.
In 1917 on october 25 (november 7) at 9 40 pm it blank shot announced the storm of the Winter Palace and the beginning of Communist Revolution in Russia.
In WWII the ships armament were used to defend StPeterburg (Leningrad) from the Nazis.
At present the Cruiser is permanently parked near Petrogradskaya emb. in St.Peterburg and is currently used as a museum. It is also serves as a unit in the Russian navy.
