Yesterday I came across a very interesting excerpt from a documentary in which, at the very end, after the hard fates of a group of people, sick and rejected by society, were told, they were filmed for the last time in a yard while standing on the cement or riding a bicycle . But they were shot from above, maybe with a drone, and it was a unique angle. Because filmed from above, their bodies were barely visible.
What was seen, and indeed was the main object and performer in this excerpt, was their shadows. They were the ones who rode a bicycle on the cement, they were the ones who stood side by side in the yard of the institution. I know, you have seen such photographs, especially in the desert, they are very impressive, but I think in this case the filmographer did a great job with the last shots because of the very idea and plot of the film.
Because many things can be said and told about shadows, especially those of people. Whether they will be the personification of our subconscious or the personification of the transience of our lives, I think even people avoid talking about this question. The subject of the shadow is always quite unpleasant.
But here, I've done some experiments in terms of lighting - in what lighting the shadow is visible or invisible.
I once showed you how, sometimes a photo needs to be darkened to bring out the rays and light in it. I think people don't dare to do that in general in life.
In most cases, their lives are personified by the second and third photos, where filters and blurring are applied to make the shadow invisible, as if it does not exist, while it is always there.
