I recommend a series: MindHunter

In Mindhunter we find Holden Ford, a character based on John E. Douglas, former agent of the FBI and one of the first to use psychological profiles to catch serial killers. And Bill Tench who is based on Robert Ressler who was a criminologist and expert in psychological profiles who also worked for the FBI. And no less important is Wendy Carr, based on Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess who also made profound contributions to the field of forensic psychology.

The series was produced by David Fincher himself, in addition to having directed 4 chapters, and revived the sub genre police serial killers. With a slightly dark atmosphere, gray I would say, Hannibal reminds us of the series, another wonderful work of art both aesthetic and psychological.

The series shows the beginning of forensic criminology as the characters are affected by interviews with some of the most twisted and famous serial killers in history. Holden Fort is the most outstanding character and who starts with everything in the series, starting from the very idea that you can connect with the mind of people with psychological problems, after an unforeseen episode where as a negotiator in situations of hostages, can not dissuade a man from collaborating, and this one blows his head off with a shotgun.

Following this Holden begins a process of learning and evolution, from shy, insecure and submissive to extroverted and able to do much for his goal of creating a science that is able to bring them closer to ruthless psychopaths.

Obviously, the series is mainly psychological and you will not see shots or scenes of action, at least not on the physical plane, but if you look twice at the series, you will find more and more action in the world where wounds and violence are not they look, but they feel.

This series is capable of approaching in great detail the motivations of the serial killers, showing us a pattern of abuse in their childhood and an inability to properly process their internal conflicts, triggering in the most brutal and inhumane actions.
