Will a Scottish independence referendum be announced before the end of June 2017?

Theresa May's speech outlining that the UK will face a 'hard' Brexit, and leave the single market of the European Union has fueled the renewed push for a Scottish referendum on independence. Leader of the Scottish National Party, Nicola Sturgeon has persistently reiterated Scotland should be able to choose a 'different future' to the UK's decision to leave the EU. Sturgeon argues this is inline with how Scottish voters backed remain in the EU by 62% to 38% in the referendum.

In order to pass legislation on a referendum, a 65 seat majority is needed in the Scottish Parliament. Sturgeon's SNP currently has 63 and would need the Scottish Greens, who hold 6 seats to push through legislation. scottish.jpg
