New Method of FUEL Production!

A new artificial photosynthesis device brings significant innovation and productivity to fuel production. The artificial photosynthesis device can be a power source for hydrogen-fueled devices.

Hydrogen is produced by artificial photosynthesis device
Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a new artificial photosynthesis device. The device breaks down the water to remove the hydrogen that is used in fuel cells. Moreover, in doing so, the efficiency of sunlight utilization is also doubled.

The hydrogen with single emission water is quite high because of being the cleanest fuel. However, the fact that most of the methods used in hydrogen production were not cleaned led to difficulties in this work. While conventional methods produce hydrogen fuel with natural gas or electric energy, the new device only prevents sunlight and water from using this problem.

The device was made from widely used materials such as solar cells and other electronic materials (silicon, germanium). The device, which has a ready-to-use industrial design, is capable of producing large-scale production of clean hydrogen fuel.

Previously developed artificial photosynthesis devices had solar-hydrogen efficiency of 1 percent. However, with the new device, this yielded 3 percent. The development of this device is aimed at achieving a productivity of 5 percent after the development works. For the long-term goals of the team, there is a 20-30 percent improvement in productivity.
