This a very cool finding and thanks for sharing it. I also read the paper...at least abstract and conclusion of the paper. I would like to quote their conclusion and emphasis what they said:" The association of current and prior year vaccination with increased shedding of influenza A might lead one to speculate that certain types of prior immunity promote lung inflammation, airway closure, and aerosol generation. This first observation of the phenomenon needs confirmation. If confirmed, this observation, together with recent literature suggesting reduced protection with annual vaccination, would have implications for influenza vaccination recommendations and policies."
Authors empirically find the positive correlation between vaccination and virus infection for the first time and since study is limited to a community college...this data cannot be generalized and in their own words "need confirmation"! This is a huge SPECULATION based on limited data! But if this is true in large population and several researchers need to confirm this..not only this one, then there will be a huge change in policy and way people see influenza vaccination.
