As we know, caterpillar is common name for the larva of a moth or butterfly. Caterpillars have distinct heads and are segmented and wormlike.

Most of the species of caterpillars if there is physical contact with humans will result in irritation I see and other infections.

There is a row of simple eyes on either side of the body. Sawfly larvae are often mistaken for caterpillars, but their prolegs "A proleg is a small, fleshy, stub structure found on the ventral surface of the abdomenof most larval forms of insects of the orderLepidoptera, though they can also be found on other larval insects such as sawflies and a few types of flies" have no hooks and they have a single simple eye on each side.

Almost all spesies caterpillars are vegetarian and have strong jaws for chewing to eat. The chewing mouth parts and the prolegs disappear during the pupa stage, as the larva is transformed into an adult.
