An open source microscope for 3D printing

Source

3D printing or additive manufacturing is, without a doubt, one of the great promises when it comes to transforming our reality, since it can totally revolutionize the manufacturing of goods.

Once this technology is implemented, it will not be necessary to have large manufacturing plants with department stores to store their products, nor to have transport fleets that bring the products from the factory to the end user.

The progressive cheapening of 3D printers will allow any average citizen to have one at home, in the same way that we all have television, which will allow us to print the articles we need.

A conventional microscope costs a few hundred dollars, but with OpenFlexure you can print it for as little as $ 18 for the material, making it accessible to many more people.

And this is just the beginning, the more people use it, the cheaper it will be and the more benefits it will acquire, since everything is based on free software and hardware. This will bring technology closer to developing countries to improve their conditions.
