Another day, another scam in Steemit.
@reggaemuffin discovered a new scam today while perusing @blocktrades history.
Here’s how the scam works:
The scammer buys a small amount of Steem using Blocktrades exchange (accessible on Steemit's menu on right) and sends it, along with a memo, to a victim:
As you can see here, anyone can send any type of memo to anyone, and can send steem to anyone as well. There’s no scanning mechanism checking for fishy stuff.
So, this memo, from the real @blocktrades account is saying that his account will up vote a user’s post if he/she sends SBD….THIS IS A SCAM! Blocktrades and other whales do not do this!!!!
So, in this one, you can see how @aafrin realizes s/he has been scammed and asking for SBD back, but the scammer just tries to scam more money out of @aafrin:
So, if you get a memo from the official @blocktrades account, IGNORE IT! It’s not REAL.
LET ME REPEAT: BLOCKTRADES DOES NOT UPVOTE POSTS IN EXCHANGE FOR SBD OR STEEM.
If you get a memo from @blocktrades that is requesting SBD in exchange for an upvote…
IGNORE IT
IGNORE IT
IGNORE IT
IGNORE IT
@blocktrades has been notified of this situation. Thanks goes to @reggaemuffin who discovered and alerted us to this new low-life scam.
