Manchester United look set to replace Carrick at the end of the season with the 36-year-old expected to call time on his Old Trafford career.
The veteran has found game time hard to come by this season, with an underlying heart condition limiting him to just a solitary appearance so far.
Manchester United have plenty of midfield options at present but Carrick, given all he has given to the club during his time there, will need replacing.

Seri looked set to move to Barcelona in the summer.
