The first in my series of rock and mineral specimens is a gorgeous Grape Chalcedony (Agate) from Sulawesi, Indonesia! These form as bubbly spheres that are typically colored purple and green, hence the name "grape". Chalcedony, or Agate, is a form of Quartz which is usually banded and/or botryoidal. Botryoidal is a term used, chiefly in minerology, to describe minerals that have a form reminiscent of grapes.
