Grateful for Each New Day

Job 38:12-13

12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days;
and caused the dayspring to know his place;
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth,
that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

As God dialogued with Job, He cited examples from His creation to remind Job of how wise and powerful He is - and how small, limited in understanding, and powerless Job was. In this verse, the Lord asks Job if it was he who caused the sun to rise over creation every day - and in the exact same position each day. Of course it wasn't Job who created the earth or caused it to rotate and orbit the sun in just such a way that the sun actually rises in different places on the horizon, depending on the time of the year. Only God Himself has the power and the wisdom to cause these and many other things to perfectly happen.

When we awake each morning, we can rejoice, be glad and thank our heavenly Father not just for the amazing creativity, power and wisdom it takes to guide our planet's rotation and orbit, but also for giving us each new day of the year. The psalmist gave voice to the wonder of a God so powerful, yet so loving, that He not only gives us each new day, but also gives each day of the year its own identity...

Psalm 118:24

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we
will rejoice and be glad in it.
