Red-Pills on the Fiat Economic system / Resources for the freshly woke [add your own!]

Red-Pills series introduction

Every time we have a "suspicious" event like 9/11 , 7/7 and now pizzagate - we have a massive wave of people being woken up by that growing itch in their mind.

This "itch" is caused by growing cognitive dissonance - the internal struggle that usually (for me) happens between the mainstream "group-think" narrative and ones own personal interpretations based on your own theories, biases and belief systems.

For many people, that itch never gets distracting enough for them to really stop, re-assess their viewpoints and investigate deeper.

It's much more comfortable to take the Blue Pill , accept the mainstream narrative and suppress those doubts.

But it's far more cathartic to scratch that itch - take the Red Pill and see how far the rabbit hole goes..

If you want to know the deeper history and mechanics of our current global fiat currency systems, stick around!

All of these threads are an open-invitation for anybody to add their own relevant posts and links - the economy is a huge topic, but its something that's especially relevant to people trying to make sense of how crypto-currencies like Bitcoin and Steem can have value .

First we need to assess why we believe any fiat currency has value, a topic that can be both mind-numbingly boring and overwhelming for new researchers - there are thousands of hours of content on youtube..

I'm looking for the most effective videos and resources preferably mixing a good amount of humour through their presentation , the sort of videos that will help people ask the right questions to set them their own journeys of self-education.

Here's a few to get the thread started :

Cavemen Economics

I love this. In only 6 minutes these aussie cavemen create, abuse and collapse their own stone-age economy
A short, funny ice-breaker to help quickly reassess from a fresh perspective

Sourced from Youtube , posted by Soul Mates channel.

Sticks and Rocky accidentally create a currency, and the tribe get their own financial system.

This series is awesome, and it's available online in full for free on ABC iView - it's worth watching, they cover heaps of deeper issues with heaps of Aussie humour :)

The American Dream

This is a few years old now, but its still a well written and produced introduction into the foundation of the US economy and the Federal Reserve . 30 minutes mixing humour and history, and a look at the inevitable consequences of the system.

Uploaded on Jan 6, 2011 on Youtube by amy2x

An Entertaining but hard hitting look at how the problems we have today are nothing new,and why leaders throughout our history have warned us and fought against the current type of financial system we have in America Today.

This is the full film on Youtube - you can find more information or donate at theamericandreamfilm.com

Enron, The Smartest Guys In The Room

A full length documentary about the Enron corporation, its faulty and corrupt business practices, and how they led to its fall.

Based on the book of the same name by Peter Elkin, director Alex Gibney's documentary takes a behind-the-scenes look at the powerful energy company whose downfall forever changed the landscape of the business world. With a blend of fascinating footage, fast-paced interviews and a wealth of information, this film is a serious lesson in the potential trappings of dishonesty and unethical behavior dogging corporate America.

The Money Masters

This is a dry, but comprehensive look at the historical development of the monetary system and political power structure.

The Money Masters is a 3 1/2 hour non-fiction, historical documentary that traces the origins of the political power structure that rules our nation and the world today.

John Perkins : Confessions of an economic hitman

A 2 minute slickly animated overview of the IMF's main strategy of economic colonisation.

Above is just a small animated clip of a much larger interview - you can also find John's books and much more information on his website .

Keep these tactics in mind when you consider the actions many "charitable" international "nation-building" groups like the IMF .

Four Horsemen

This is not a religious documentary, but the disaster it outlines is almost biblical in its scope

RenegadeInc.com brings you FOUR HORSEMEN - an award winning independent feature documentary which lifts the lid on how the world really works.

As we will never return to 'business as usual' 23 international thinkers, government advisors and Wall Street money-men break their silence and explain how to establish a moral and just society.

FOUR HORSEMEN is free from mainstream media propaganda -- the film doesn't bash bankers, criticise politicians or get involved in conspiracy theories. It ignites the debate about how to usher a new economic paradigm into the world which would dramatically improve the quality of life for billions.

I know we have a wide variety of steemians across the entire political and philosophical spectrum here - hopefully these choices are interesting to some of you. This is far from comprehensive , and it's more USA-centric then I would have liked - but the general concepts, tactics and power structure is similar all over the world.

At this point in time, if I had to put a label my current philosphy towards the economy then the closest I have found so far would be Anarcho-Capitalism :

Where's your head at ?
