What Are Some Key Indicators of Success?

I did a podcast interview with Chris Waters who owns a real estate brokerage. Chris and I talked about how he has become a huge success as a real estate brokerage. He said one interesting thing about successful agents, which I think can be transfered to most any proffession.

Chris said that he will spend a lot of time interviewing and vetting potential new agents. He usually finds about four agents who interview well and who appear they will be successful. However, only one of those people will become successful.

The truth is that most people do not have the work ethic to be successful. Here are the reasons that Chris says three out of four potential agents do not last 30 days with him.

  1. One agent will not realize how much qork it takes to be successful and will quit right away.

  2. Another agent will show up to work every day and do the work for a week or two. Then they will miss a day or two as they lose their initial excitment.

  3. Finally one agent will show up to work, do the work, and make it the full 30 days. The problem is that they will not listen to anything they are taught. They will pretend to listen and act as if they are learning, but will just do their own thing and never implement anything they are taught.

One agent will show up, do the work, and be coachable. I have experienced this same phenemonen in my business. I will hire people who I think will be amazing, but you never know for sure until they do the work. Most people are not willing to do the work that it takes to be successful.

I am also reading his book which is fantastic so far. https://amzn.to/2KaFV5H

It is an awesome resource especially as I am starting my own brokerage.
