This weekend I finally had the chance to work with the kirow train. For those who are unfamiliar with it. It is a specialized railroad crane. It is able to pick a load that far exceeds those of the normal railroad cranes. It takes longer to hoist and move the load as the crane needs to stabilize a lot while moving the load. But it makes a lot of jobs way faster and more safe.
This weekend they unloaded 3 railroad switches. In two nights. So all in all a fast job that normally takes a lot longer. The switches come on a specialized train and then the kirow train picks them up places them on the side.
Very impressive to see!
