Giant Radish Plants

On a hike in the United States, I came across a bank with huge wild radish plants. These are common, but they are generally much smaller. These large plants were near the bank of a stream and with wild turkeys nearby. Could that have played a role in them getting fertilized more than usual? Then I saw this hole in the ground from a squirrel and imagined that maybe the entire understructure of this bank is very well aerated by their digging. It's only speculation.
