Good wires, bad wires

I missed last Qurator´s Photo Quest, finding out too late it was themed about one of my favourite subjects: birds! Since it has been quite a while since I've joined this quest, decided to check out this week's theme to see if I could join in; and this week's theme is Wires!

There are a ton of different kinds of wires, and those different kinds can be used in a myriad of different stuff as well. Wires can be used for good things, and for bad things... and one of the worse I can think of is this.

This photo was taken inside the s21 prison in Camboja, now known as Tuol Sleng. What was once a school, was turned into a horror interrogation center, during the dark times of Pol Pot regime. Now, it remains as a reminder of what humanity should never go back to.

Fortunately, there are ways to turn the bad things, into useful things. Just ask these sparrows!

Bad barb wire, yes, but also a place to rest and preen, while checking out all the visitors.

This wire theme is actually great to combine with the previous theme, and will make for a much "lighter" post than talking about the worst of mankind. After all, birds love to perch on wires, given how omnipresent they are in our lives. It can happen in a very crowded city,

or in not so crowded spaces.

And even if the wires are not used for perching, they can just add another detail to the overall photograpy composition!

So there you go, no more decent wire photos on my archives.

Have a great weekend!
