We don't know how long Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, or Prince William will live or who will predecease whom, but AP tells us that Princes Charles and William are "two future monarchs," or, as the AP headline phrases it, "two future kings." Really? Not "possible future monarchs" or "potential future kings" or "princes in line for the throne"? AP's headline a few years ago -- before Meghan Markle's husband was stripped of his royal highness status -- might have referred to Charles, William, and Harry as "three future kings." But we now know that ain't gonna happen.

Maybe AP's next trick will be to tell its readers the names of "two future presidents" of the United States. .
