Second iteration of the QSL (Quebec Starcraft League)

Welcome to the second iteration of the QSL (Quebec Starcraft League)! The tournament will be held from Saturday, Feb 23 6:00pm EST (GMT-05:00) to Saturday, Feb 23 10:30pm EST (GMT-05:00).

Signing up- three conditions apply to signing up for the event:

  1. You must be able to show up in person to the event, at the meltdown montreal bar half an hour before the start of the tournament.
  2. The bar requires you to purchase at least one drink in order to use any game stations, including the computers.
  3. Be aged 18 or older (it's a bar).

You are encouraged to mark "going" on the Facebook event page https://goo.gl/4NrjAv . This will help us with organizing the tournament, but it doesn't represent any official registration of any kind. Each player will have 15 minutes to set up their in-game settings, between 5h30 and 6h00 pm. (there will be 10 computers available). In the mean time, the bracket will be determined.

Player limit: If there are more than 16 participants, the 16 highest ranked players on the 1v1 NA ou EU ladder will be prioritized for the tournament.

Prize pool: The prize pool should be 500$ (awaiting confirmation). A free drink will be gifted by the bar to a random player that made the top 8. The prize pool will be distributed as follows: 50% to the winner, 25% to the runner-up, then the rest will be shared between 3rd and 4th place.

Commentator: The tounament will be streamed and commentated by twitch streamer Gosu_PvP (), come spam his chat!

Trophee: A trophee will be awarded to the winner of the tournament (as seen in the facebook event banner)

Format: it’s traditionally always been a single evening event. Seeing as how all Starcraft II events were hosted at a Meltdown bar, people had to head home eventually, as with any night of drinking. As such, the format is a Bo1 for the first round of games and the first round of the loser’s bracket match. Every other round (except the finals) is Bo3 double-elimination bracket up until the semi-finals. The grand-finals will be a Bo5, where the finalist from the winner bracket starts the series off with a 1-0 lead. The number of games per series might be adjusted depending on how quickly the games proceed, but players will be involved in the decision-making process if that was to happen.

Map selection: Round 1 and 2 of the tournaments (the Bo1's) will be a pre-determined map. The semi-finals and finals will have the choice of vetos and then loser's pick.

Meal: pizza will be ordered around 6:30. 5$ is normally asked for two slices, but is offered to anyone who traveled more than 50 km to get to the event.

Lodging: anybody traveling over 50 km can ask for free lodging. Members of the local community have accepted to lodge travelers if need be. Contact al_savardo@hotmail.com if you’re interested in that.
