The Allure Of Finn Bálor

Finn Bálor has made quite the name for himself in WWE, but he wasn't always known as Finn Bálor in his pro-wrestling career. He began his grappling life under his real name, Fergal Devitt. While he was working with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, this Irish grappler wrestled as Prince Devitt. He is also known for being a founding member of the Bullet Club for NJPW.

Devitt was already an accomplished wrestler when he signed in 2014 with WWE's NXT. It was here that he changed his name to Finn Bálor. His name was derived from two sources, with the last name referring to his alter ego (pictured). Finn comes from a warrior from Irish mythology, Fionn mac Cumhaill. Balor refers to "Demon King" in Gaelic.

Bálor is not as large as some of his opponents, but it is his quickness and heart that makes him successful. Most of the time he struts out to the ring in a leather jacket and trunks, nothing too imposing. That is until he leaps off the top rope and stomps on your mid-section! On special occasions, Bálor comes to the ring as The Demon. As was mentioned by the announce team during Super Showdown from Saudi Arabia last Friday, The Demon usually doesn't lose. Andrade was his victim at this particular Pay-Per-View. The strange thing was that Andrade actually called out The Demon!

The Demon's entrance to the ring is mesmerizing, as Bálor slinks his way to the ropes. It is not just the makeup that makes the transformation, but also the acting skills of Bálor himself. You can't have an alter ego if you are the same person wearing makeup. It's just too bad that he doesn't compete as this creature more often!
