Our Truck Med Kit

Everyone needs a medical kit and basic knowledge of first aid.

We're pretty avid an this. As such we have three medical kits so far:

  • A small, very mobile one, that can be hung off a belt or vest.
  • A medium one for the truck shown here.
  • And a large one for the home.

I'm also working lightly on some very compact ones to be carried in a cargo pocket as part of our EDC load out. None of my kits are perfect, but they're better than what most people carry with them.

I'm not going to talk you to death about every piece of gear in this kit. Instead I'll let the photos do most of the talking for me. As always if you have any questions, you can leave a comment and I'll do what I can in the way of answering them.

Why carry a Med Kit?!

Seems like a no-brainier to me.. But in this society we're all so interlinked and dependent on those services provided daily that we take it for granted. Honestly I just don't think having one crosses most peoples minds..

First and for most, I carry one in the hopes that if we need it, it will be to hand. Just as much and (knock on wood!) hopefully more likely it may be of use to someone else...

I'm not going to get into the minute man philosophy here, but where ever you are, chances are your car is near by.

Whether a kid needs a band aid, a friend some ibuprofen, or if you witness an accident, you should have the tools at hand to do more then just rubberneck.. The list goes on and on. If you let it, it may take you down the rabbit hole.

Mind your head!
Preparedness is, in my opinion, nothing more then being a responsible adult. You don't need to drive an EMS for it to work, but some things can, in a pinch, be worth their weight in gold!
