War Yes … Poverty Yes

I just heard about the Great Lie, described as the foundation of global suffering, disorder, mismanagement, destruction, and all such alchemy of misaligned tendencies and understandings. The violence that perpetuates violence, not out of any incursions into our defenses, put out of the hubris of empire. The story of an evil that is the apparition of our imagination, created in the brutal stirrings perpetuated around the world… by ourselves. We focus our resources on the destructive capacities to flounder in deserts and to attack peninsulas on the other side of the world, within cultural geographies and milieus of consciousness which we cannot relate to, as they are foreign in the most fragile and susceptible sense of the word. Why should we complain that our “schools, healthcare, highways, food stamps, environmental cleanups” fall into catastrophic disrepair? Why should we be concerned if our investment in new medical, technical, scientific, and artistic research goes down the toiled? And whose security are we trying to defend anyways? We already live in a surveillance state. When did you last think about your liberty or what would that even mean in a healthy society, much less a healthy world?

We live in two nations in the U.S. One that plays remote control games invading, debilitating, assassinating, and destabilizing broad swaths of the world in the name of false progress, pre-emptive defense, and patronage for multinational corporations which are no more “American” than the commerce they undertake in Hong Kong. This is the great game of the 1%; the oligarchs and the hedonous impresarios glutted with ambition and supportive of the obstreperous military machine. The other is the one sinking further into obscurity, disrepair, emotional isolation, drug dependency, and deleterious health status… the great nation of the disillusioned and ambivalent, the masses that have left the country to the usurpers of all the shiny plans of the “founding fathers”. Left it to those who say “War yes… and Poverty yes too”.

Time to stop waiting for answers from the great beyond and provide your own answers beyond the conformity of our times … beyond the anticipated and inculcated decisions of the oligarchs, to make decisions that are out-of-time, as those directed towards future generations awaiting redemption.
