Nowadays with desk jobs being the dominant form of jobs in the western society more and more individuals are suffering from Anterior Pelvic Tilt (APT), many without knowing. As shown in the above stated picture, APT is when the pelvis is tilted forward raising the back of the pelvis. This causes the stomach, the head to be moved forward, and at the same time causing back and neck pain.

People will notice that they are suffering from back/neck pain and will opt to go see the chiropractor to attend to their back pain. I say this, because I have been through this myself. When I was 12 years old I would go to school and sit for 70% of the time in my lessons, then I would go home and play video games. I was a "hardcore" gamer around this age playing World of Warcraft and League of Legends with my friends right after school ended, until our parents told us it was time to go to sleep. At this age you are unaware of the impact of bad posture, due to this I developed back pain. For the following 4 years I visited various chiropractors, however all of them just cracked my back and gave me short term relief. None of them informed me about APT, which was the inevitable fix.

So how can one go about fixing APT?

This picture shows exactly why APT is caused, a tight and overactive lower back, weak abdominals, weak hamstrings and glutes, and overactive quads. Therefore the abs should be strengthened along with the hamstrings and glutes. Along with this the posterior chain should be developed, which are the posture muscles within the back. If you follow these steps, along with being aware of your APT and trying to correct yourself constantly on it will lead to the fix. Fixing your posture, which has been proven to boost confidence, alleviating your back pain, and also adding height!
