Una introducción necesaria
Lo anterior lo sabía, pero, cobró mayor significación, a partir de un regalo que me acaban de hacer: Mil libros digitales, algo que nunca pensé tener en físico y en el que hay autores de los más admirados por mí.

Una gran amiga me copió en una memoria flash un regalo, con la condición de no abrirla hasta que llegara a la casa. Cuando llegué y abrí el fichero no daba crédito a lo mis ojos veían porque era una carpeta con mil libros digitales, pero, mi alegría creció cuando vi el índice y descubrí los autores y los libros contenidos, pues hay varios libros que he leído o he querido leer y que no tengo.
Rápido llamé a mi amiga y le agradecí tamaño regalo.
Enseguida comencé a dar la buena nueva y, como siempre, algunos colegas me dijeron que no les gustaba esa manera de leer, que no hay nada que supere ese olor a hoja nueva o guardada en el estante de una librería y que la vista fija en un dispositivo digital es perjudicial para la vista.
Intenté convencerlos de las ventajas e importancia de este tipo de lectura, que el objetivo no es sustituir la literatura tradicional, pero que el tiempo ha cambiado y no podemos darle la espalda a la realidad. En fin, me decidí a hacer esta publicación para compartir mi alegría y dar mis criterios en torno a esto.
Como profesor e investigador he tenido la necesidad de acudir a este tipo de lectura que no es más que leer documentos en formato digital, ya sea un teléfono, una laptop, una tableta o una computadora, por lo que tiene numerosos elementos que la hacen atractiva, útil y necesaria.

Es importante, además, por su flexibilidad, la fácil manera de transportarla, por su carácter interactivo y por lo que contribuye a proteger la naturaleza. Además, en la era que vivimos, en la que los dispositivos digitales presiden nuestros procesos es innegable su importancia y actualidad.

La lectura digital no sustituye a la tradicional, pero, es difícil que en esta era digital no asumamos estos modelos que muchas veces nos simplifican los problemas y nos favorecen los procesos.
Muchas veces salimos de vacaciones y tenemos entre nuestros objetivos disfrutar de la lectura, pero, los libros nos pueden ocupar espacios o nos incrementan el peso del equipaje. Llevando un dispositivo que usamos para comunicarnos, podemos suplir esto y unir lo útil y lo agradable.
No estoy renunciando a la lectura tradicional, pero, no puedo ir en contra de las tendencias actuales. Para mí, lo más importante es la lectura y, este regalo digital me ha alegrado el alma como a un niño que le regalan un cumpleaños.
