HELLO BIG FAMZ hope yall been doing great . so today i wanna share a piece i created for an art competition, for africa here. the topic was THE LEGEND OF SANGO, so SANGO is a god here worshipped mostly by the yoruba's and he is known to have the power to invoke fire and thunder. So we were asked to create our own perspective of SANGO how we see him, so the best art gets to win a sum of 1700$, hmmm thats huge.
so here was my outcome. note though i used a REFERENCE of a picture. so am gonna be sharing the art process and the breakdowns though i wont talk much about the breakdowns cause of the artstyle i used, so bear with me guys.
ART PROCESS
so starting from the sketch....
so here was the sketch created in krita ,i painted this art piece using photoshop and krita cause of some brushes i neede in both.
so the rest of the process was about picking colours based on the character design i created for this which ill post later....
sorry about the pic position guys, so here was the base colour for the piece, which we will paint over using the clipping mask. this piece was created using just three brushes all through.
here i added the background giving it a dark cloudy effect in order to illustrate a war scene and depict SANGO in anger and full of WRATH you get the vibes.
so here where the painting gets interesting adding lighting to the piece and bring the art alive and more realism to the effect .
so here i move the painting to photoshop where i added a skin effect to the art making it more good looking , and i finished the whole painting on photoshop.
so here i added lighting to the axe to show the relation between him and his powers and also show him in his full powers.
so the last part waas adding blood splash in motion to the pice to show an impact.
