Streamlined Charging for Electric Fleets by Guided Energy

Electric vehicles are game changers in the transportation sector these days. It's fascinating how much sophistication can be introduced into our everyday lives by commuting. For one, the self-driving feature is an incredible feat and changes things.

It's on the rise these days: electric vehicles (EVs) are popping out from different manufacturers and brands, and it's all very competitive. The top of the chain remains Tesla for being responsible for spurring ideas with their interesting models. The catch with these vehicles is that they have certain drawbacks that conventional combustion-engine vehicles don't have.

With your regular gasoline vehicle, you basically just need to fill up the gas tank and you're good to go—with all things fair and square with the vehicle's parts, that is. On top of that, one can keep some extra gasoline in a jerrican or something if they are going to travel for such a long distance and probably wouldn't get gas stations frequently. In the case of EVs, it's an entirely different story.

One issue with electric vehicles is that they do not have infinite storage battery capacity. They'd always run down and may not suffice for really long trips. You'd have to make stops at charging stations ever so often to get around, as is the case with most EV owners. And so there is the need to know when one needs to charge up, the nearest charging stations, charging times, and whatnot.

Guided Energy's Solution

A French startup, Guided Energy, is introducing a way to help EV drivers optimise their battery charging for efficient usage and convenience, particularly EV fleet managers. With electric vehicles and charging points connected directly and telematics and supervision platforms available, people can now plan their trips more optimally on their operating system for managing and charging electric fleets.

It's cheaper to charge EVs at home, but it's usually slower. In other places, like highways, for example, it can be way faster for a single charge but more expensive. The charging prices and location of charging stations are issues that affect the regulation of operations for EV fleet managers and require them to adapt efficiently to thrive in these modern times.

The Guided Energy software tool will take into account the pricing of charging at different charging stations, charging times, distance between charging stations, vehicle location, and a couple of other factors to determine the best charging strategy for fleet managers. In real-time, it would provide helpful information on how to "move" the electric vehicles in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

The startup charges a monthly subscription of $40 per vehicle while offering huge savings on vehicles with the features its software tools provide. It already tracks over 1000 vehicles, and that number should grow really fast in the next few months.

If you were a fleet manager or an EV owner in general, would you consider using Guided Energy and its features? And how useful do you think it is?
