GPT-4o demo was nothing short of impressive in May. Although we were expecting the launch of SearchGPT that had been teased prior, but the new "omni" model was an even much bigger treat to something exciting. And the impression the demo had on people, as well as the possibilities with GPT-4o is the reason for the company's soaring app revenue.

GPT-4o is multimodal AI model that is cabable of processing different forms of data—text, images, and audio. And it does impressively well with understanding emotions in one's voice, reading facial expressions, and is much better in communicating in natural language.

You could essentially think of GPT-4o as a virtual assistant, given its ability to hold coherent conversations. And free users can enjoy some of its benefits under certain limits. So it does make sense how the app has been downloaded so many times accross iOS and Android OS and even generated a lot of net revenue.

Note that net revenue represents the sum OpenAI keeps after paying Apple’s and Google’s in-app purchase fees. In addition, the firm found that Apple’s App Store accounted for 83% of the app’s revenue — a figure that has grown 20% since June. Before app store fees, ChatGPT’s app had grossed $28.9 million in May, $34 million in June, and $39.9 million in July. ~ TechCrunch

Paid users get to enjoy the most out of the biggest models in the ChatGPT app, which is five times more than free users will be able to get. That includes more exciting capabilites such as being able to point the camera at a person or something and get get live feedback from ChatGPT based on what it sess.

Interestingly, the agpp received 2 million new paying subscribers, according to Appfigures. And now that the Advanced Voice Mode is here, there are chances that the app only continue to do well in the coming times.

Advanced Voice Mode offers users with real-time conversations like one would have with a fellow human. There is surprisingly really low latency. One can go back-and-forth like in natural conversations and even interrupt. This particular feature allows for human-like experience with ChatGPT, which is seemingly an exciting thing for people.

With the announcement of SearchGPT, OpenAI's search engine that's potentially a rival to Google and Perplexity, and its future integration in ChatGPT, we can only expect the app to receive more attention than it has already gotten now.
