As it is spring i decided to print two spring flowers for them to paint accordingly with the butterfly. I explained to them that the flower that has the yellow butterfly has to be painted in yellow and the one that has the blue butterfly has to paint the flower in blue.

4 TIPS FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN COLORS

  1. Use the color associated with an object For example, if you are saying banana, say: this is a banana and it is yellow in color. Remember that the more different examples of the same color you present to a child, the more easily he will understand what you want to convey.

  1. Knowing that using verbal language will not always be the right choice In fact, the child starts by being able to point out a color before being able to say it. Therefore, showing instead of verbalizing can be a way to start teaching colors to a very young child. Children can, in fact, understand colors from about four months old, but it takes a little longer to associate a color name with that feature on an object.

  1. Start with the basic colors and gradually add new ones Start by teaching the basic colors: blue, red, yellow, black, white. Then gradually add other colors. Each week you can add a new color to this set. You can do, for example, the week with the orange color, then the week with the pink color, and so on.
