Assalamuallaikum. Glad to be back everyone I hope you are all keeping well. One must remember character is not something one can buy; it is the personalities that you etch on your heart through your decision making, which are permanent.
This simple fact clearly brings out the fact that it is right to always make decisions that are virtuous and have a stand against vice. Pursue the elusive goal of saying things that people will follow by exclaiming: “he is a man of his word”.
Mores stem from individual personality which in turn is developed by actions and decisions an individual takes. Our character begins with the ways we choose to live on the large decisions we make in our lives and even in small decisions of daily living.
This is how a character is developed; an ideal character that one would want to associate themselves with speaking of the character in positive terms such as integrity, reliability and respect. When people notice that for whatever we are promising, we deliver and uphold our principles, then people trust and respect us.
This implies that in life, one is always faced with some or the other situations that are actually a challenge to his or her character. Said Shakespeare, ‘The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak’; it is in these times only that people are known by their true selves. It [decision-making] keeps the integrity of a person by making decisions based on what is valuable to a certain individual. Of course it is not always this simple, because, for example, to make such changes you need to sacrifice and work really hard. On the contrary, these are the times when our character is tested and this is why I admire what has been done.
The best cognitive processes are that the virtues that form the character are based on worthy actions. Kindness in words, in deeds, in thoughts, in business these are the buildings of character worthy of respect.
We are privileged to learn many things in our lifetime and every thing that happens in our life is a lesson of some kind. Therefore, in essence, the experiences that we have within our lifetime, are the ways through which we shape and mold our character.
Finally, the character refers to the traits which are almost akin to the soul of an individual. It is not something that one can acquire or even manufacture but it is something that is built over time through conscious effort.
In our course of extending an effort to have credibility which translates to a reputation of being honest and truthful, we also enjoy the esteem of others plus the life of a purpose and meaning. Indeed, life is a lesson in learning and going on, and when creating a good character at it, the complexities of life are faced properly.
