Cultism is any form of organization whose activities are kept from the knowledge of others, but such activities are carried out at odd hours of the day and they often clash with the values of the everyday life.
The early cult group was founded in 1953 in University of Ibadan by wole soyinka and other elites. As at then,it was established with the aim of protecting the interest of students and to fight against injustice meted on them by lecturers and even the school authority.
However,in our school today, the reason for establishing cult has been thrown to the background, instead of protecting lives, they now endanger both members, innocent people and society at large.
Reasons why students join cult:
Search for security: Many students believes that joining secret cult will give them peace and power that protect them against others.
Resure from family: Some join cultism because of the pressure they receive from their family and so look for solace in cult.
To protect their loved ones: Some guys join cult to protect their love ones or girlfriends.
To boost ones ego: Some believe that when they join cultism it will make them popular or give them sense of belonging.
Effect of cultism:
It endangers life.
It leads to expulsion.
It disturbs the peace of the school.
It leads to premature death.
Members are not safe, they are always afraid of being attacked by others.
In conclusion, I urge Students to say no to cultism. It does not offer anything good rather,it makes it difficult for one to graduate from school.
