A New Wave Of Reward Cards Are Live! | Splinterlands #376

As of August 15, Splinterlands has rolled out a batch of new reward cards, each with unique stats and abilities.

New Reward Cards Are Live!

I had 150k+ Glint on my main account which I used to open 30 Ultimate loot chests in anticipation of the new Rebellion reward cards.

I managed to snag one legendary unit, Emberguard, who looks like another useful addition to the slew of legendary Fire unit monsters. I especially like that it has the melee debuff ability (Demoralize) and good health to aid its survivability. I was really hoping to pull the Surly Drunk as that looks like another fun low-mana cost to throw into lineups.

These new reward cards also bring unique debilitations that add a layer of complexity to their use:

  • Incendiary
    • Effect: Inflicts a burning status on adjacent allies, causing damage over time.
  • Electrified
    • Effect: Electrifies allies, causing them to take damage each round.
  • Weary
    • Effect: Each round, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate.

What are some effective strategies in dealing with these new debilitations?

For units with Incendiary and Electrified debilitations, you will want to place them adjacent to high-health units or units with healing abilities to offset this damage. For those units with Weary, you will want to place them next to monsters that are expendable i.e., those throwaway units that fill up spots in the battlefield.

Unbinded Soulbound Cards

With the release of these new rewards card, the unbinding process has gone live as well, and we started to see these cards appearing on the market.

I am surprised at the prices that the cards are selling for (which is a good sign I think). The Weapons Training ability units are dominating the top of the charts as they are some of the more expensive unbounded units. On one of my alts, I play exclusively with these Soulbound and Chaos Legion cards and many of them I do not use, but after seeing the prices I will need to re-evaluate my strategies as the market may be seeing in these cards that I am not. Some examples include Musa Saline, Evelyn Auvera, and Thane Newsong.

Final Thoughts

The new reward cards and their abilities look promising, and I cannot wait to start playing more with them. I will not be participating in unbinding any of my Soulbound cards across my main and two alt accounts. As I mentioned in last week's post, the cost is too exorbitant for me and I will make peace that those cards I do not have or levelled high enough, that I will need to make do with what I have.

Have you unbinded any Soulbound cards?
