My volunteering comes to an end
Steemit friends! It's been a few days. I've been sick and I needed a few days to relax and recover :) I still have a cold but I feel much better.
I reached my 36 weeks of pregnancy!
So I had to stop volunteering now and I've to organize some last things before my babygirl arrives :) Although I'm a little sad to stop working at the shelter, I'm also excited for my last weeks of pregnancy and to focus on that now. It's been a great time and a great new experience where I could gain a lot of things.
Meine ehrenamtliche Arbeit kommt zu einem Ende
Steemit Freunde! Es ist schon ein paar Tage her seit meinem letzten Post. Da ich krank war, hab' ich ein paar Tage zum Ausruhen gebraucht :) Bin noch etwas erkaeltet, aber es ist schon viel besser.
Ich habe meine 36. Schwangerschaftswoche erreicht!
Also musste ich so langsam mit der ehrenamtlichen Arbeit aufhoeren. Die naechsten Wochen werde ich brauchen, um mich auf die Geburt meines Maedchens vorzubereiten :) Auch wenn ich etwas traurig bin, beim Obdachlosenheim aufzuhoeren, bin ich zugleich auch aufgeregt, dass meine Schwangerschaft nun zu einem Ende kommt. Ich hatte bei der Arbeit eine tolle Zeit mit tollen neuen Erfahrungen und habe einiges dazu gewinnen koennen.
What have I learned / What have I gained
It's been about 8 months of volunteering. Something I've always wanted to do. And finally since I came to the states I was able to do it. I offered my free time but got a lot more back. Volunteering always sounds like you're the only one who gives something and since you don't get paid for it it sounds like you get nothing in return. But this is not true at all. Although you might not get money in return, you get so much other things back. To me it was a great satisfaction to give my service into the lives of other people and to make a difference.
Was habe ich dazu gelernt? / Mein Fazit
Es waren jetzt ca. 8 Monate, in denen ich im Obdachlosenheim gearbeitet habe. Etwas, was ich schon immer machen wollte und seitdem ich in Amerika bin, dann auch umsetzen konnte. Ich habe meine Freizeit gegeben, aber so viel mehr zurueck bekommen. Ehrenamtliche Arbeit hoert sich immer so an, als ob du die Einzige bist, die gibt und da du nicht bezahlt wirst, hoert es sich so an, als ob du nichts zurueck bekommst. Aber das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Auch wenn du vielleicht kein Geld dafuer bekommst, bekommst du so viel Mehr zurueck. Fuer mich war es schon eine tolle Befriedigung, meine Zeit anderen Menschen zu geben und in ihren Leben etwas zu bewirken.
Giving is better than receiving
I always believed this is true. It's just a great feeling when you give or help other people. When you give to other people, you add to their lives - and by adding to theirs, you add to your life too. It can also inspire others! It teaches you responsibility and it also makes you appreciate more what you have.
Geben ist besser als Nehmen
.. daran habe ich immer geglaubt. Es ist einfach ein tolles Gefühl, wenn man anderen Menschen gibt oder ihnen hilft. Wenn du anderen Menschen gibst, fügst du etwas ihrem Leben hinzu - und indem du Etwas zu ihrem hinzufügst, fügst du gleichzeitig deinem Leben auch noch etwas hinzu. Es kann auch andere inspirieren! Es lehrt dich Verantwortung und es lässt dich auch mehr schätzen, was du hast!
Giving is easy...

Geben ist einfach...
Gebt, was ihr habt, dann werdet ihr so überreich beschenkt werden, dass ihr gar nicht alles aufnehmen könnt. Mit dem Maßstab, den ihr an andere anlegt, wird man auch euch messen. -Lukas 6:38
