Another week brings an amazing proposal by @thepeoplesguild to create original content for Splinterlands. This time, @thepeoplesguild is inviting the Splinterlands community to design a summoner card inspired by @Yabapmatt, one of the game's co-founders. ๐ฎ The idea is that, since Yabapmatt is known for being a "man of the people," the card should embody his influential and thoughtful nature while offering players exciting gameplay mechanics.
When @thepeoplesguild asks, I answer! ๐ช So, without further ado, I present to you:
Sir Matt Rosen ๐โ๏ธ
1. The lore
Sir Matt Rosen, the Guardian of Praetoria ๐
In the ancient lands of Praetoria, a figure of legend arose: Sir Matt Rosen, a Paladin whose influence stretches far beyond the battlefield. From the early days of Praetoria, he was known as a quiet visionary, building foundations and shaping the future of the realm from the shadows and the dark corners of the world. Some say Sir Mattโs origins are divine, a direct descendant of the gods, imbued with their immortal essence. Others believe that the very life force of Praetoria flows through him, and it is his presence alone that keeps the lands united and prosperous. ๐ก๏ธโจ
Though Sir Matt has always preferred the quiet craft of creation โ designing and building the structures that allow the world to thrive โ fate thrust him into a position of leadership. Reluctantly, he stepped forward to protect his people during a time of crisis, when Praetoria stood on the brink of collapse. Though not a role he sought, he assumed command, balancing the burdens of leadership with the needs of the realm. His heart remains with his first love: crafting and creation, but his sense of duty and selflessness drives him to lead. ๐๐จ
Sir Matt Rosen is a Dragon-type summoner who emerged during the tumultuous Rebellion era, placing him within the Rebellion set. His ability to summon and command dragons is a power that few understand, shrouded in mystery and speculation. While the true source of his connection to these ancient and powerful creatures remains unclear, many believe that it stems from his divine heritage and unmatched strength. ๐๐ฅ
Nowadays, when Sir Matt strides onto the battlefield, his mere presence inspires courage and strength in those who fight alongside him. His mastery of divine magic not only shields his allies from harm but also uplifts them with a radiant energy that turns the tide of battle. His leadership is unquestioned, and his allies fight with renewed vigor under his banner. Sir Matt Rosen is more than a Paladin; he is the pillar that holds Praetoria together, whether through battle or through the quiet, unseen efforts of a man who puts his people first. ๐๐ชโ๏ธ
2. Summoner stats and abilities:
Sir Matt Rosen is a Dragon-type summoner from the Rebellion set. ๐โ๏ธ
He's a 7-mana summoner to match the rest of the legendary summoners from the set. ๐ก๏ธโก
Matt is a defensive-type summoner, and the core of his abilities focuses on protecting his team. He grants +1 armor and Divine Shield to his entire team, emphasizing his role as a Paladin, aiming to shield and defend, just as he has protected his people in the past. ๐ก๏ธโจ
Sir Matt brings a unique ability to the game, one that embodies his sense of fairness and divine balance. The ability is called Justice For All, reflecting the idea that no one is above the law, not even his own team. โ๏ธ If the battle drags on past Turn 15, Matt calls upon his divine judgment, ensuring that no one escapes justice. At the end of the turn, he unleashes a devastating force that wipes out every monster on the battlefieldโfriend and foe alike. This act of ultimate fairness ensures that the fight does not continue endlessly, and the side Matt leads will be deemed victorious if the ability triggers. However, if both players have Sir Matt as their summoner, the battle will end in a just draw. ๐ฅโ๏ธ
Players using Sir Matt can choose between two very different sets of tactic abilities. Each set is powerful and focused on ensuring the battle concludes swiftly. Matt is not here to waste time! โณ๐ฅ
The player can choose between buffing two units with +5 speed and Execute ๐น๐จ or imbuing three units with Redemption and Resurrect. ๐ก๏ธ๐ฅ These choices offer two distinct strategies: dealing massive global damage with Redemption and Resurrect, or focusing on making two units incredibly fast to eliminate the enemy team with Execute.
Final Thoughts: ๐
I always like to finish my post with a conclusion of sorts. Anyway, I hope you guys like this post. ๐ It was definitely fun to make the art and the lore. In case you didn't notice, using a little bit of fantasy imagination, I tried to make the Matt card based on the real-life person. I tried to reflect his role in the company this past year and his role in the years before. It was all done in the name of fun so I hope @yabapmatt doesn't get offended. ๐ ๏ธ
Anyway, what do you guys think? Is this card OP? ๐ช
Btw, aren't you guys tired of games going on forever? Well, at least Matt is! ๐
