Exploring Interests with @littledrummerboy #3: Being Introduced to Dry Ice

What is dry ice?

It is basically ice made of carbon dioxide under extremely cold temperature. It can be found in maintaining the temperature of an ice cream takeaway box, just like what we had. It sublimates (turns from solid into gas vapour) easily when it is in contact with the surrounding or with water, creating like seemingly an artificial fog, which can be the mysterious effects used in theatres or movies.

Touching dry ice can incur frostbite or even freeze burn, thus it is highly advisable to handle it with gloves and not touch them with bare hands. We were trying to be really careful of that too so we kept reminding @littledrummerboy and each other about that. It is prohibited to be swallowed or eaten because it can "burn" our esophagus and the whole digestive tract.

Introducing it to @littledrummerboy

So, we had another birthday celebration today at a very delicious place and got surprised by this Baskin Robbins ice cream cake, brought by @iamjadeline and her husband. My husband, @danielwong's birthday is also in the same month as me which is September so it seemed like the celebration hardly ends, lol. There's never too much ice-cream and now we have a whole tier of the freezer filled with it, I am so blessed by the abundance of ice-cream this year, Hahahaha!!!

We had such a great lunch that we couldn't open and eat the ice-cream cake though I always have an extra stomach for it. So, we brought it home and did some little "experiments" to show @littledrummerboy. My dad and mom-in-law joined in the fun. @littledrummerboy was actually crying because he wanted to still hang out with all his cousins, uncle and aunt after the lunch and he was upset all the way home. But of course, he got brightened up by the idea of blowing off the birthday candles, followed by this mini experiment his dad came out with. He took a container and poured in some water, dropped in a piece of dry ice and wolla! It created a mini fog and they started blowing, touching the "fog". We kept reminding him not to touch the dry ice, though to avoid burns.

Hence, I thought maybe I can get it on a video to show you guys. Unfortunately, he was very busy with his new discovery so he hardly interact with you all. Thus a short fun because we tried to put him to nap which was to no avail and now he is roaming around somewhere with his dad while I finish up this post.

Another Long Weekend in September

It is again another long weekend where we have a public holiday replacement for our Malaysia Day. It is to commemorate the day when our nation was finally formed and united in 1963, which was 55 years ago. We are seeing a new generation of ministers and also change. I would like to end this post by blessing my nation where I belong, to be steadfast and strong in great values, to be honourable and also honouring the others, to be blessed and to prosper. To my fellow Malaysians, enjoy the holiday and to the rest, good day!
