Week through Adrian's Lenses (18 - 22 December 2023 - Early Edition)

Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

This is the #50th issue (nice, round number!) of the "Week through Adrian's Lenses" weekly Hive and crypto news roundup.

This is an early edition of our Hive and crypto news summary because I'll be away for a very short break and won't be around on Sunday to write it. As a result, we will have less news to cover in this roundup. I may also change the day of the week permanently from Sunday to Friday. I get complaints from my family regularly that I don't have a less busy Sunday (it is usually my longest, from the posting point of view). So, it's time to make time.

Let's see what we have for this week.

Week on Hive

12 of 19 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

INLEO Progresses on Several Fronts at Once

Khal revealed a few exciting news during this week's INLEO AMA:

  • the ever-eluding first LeoAds distribution should come out very soon (Khal said he doesn't know when exactly, it's random)
  • INLEO's (private) full Hive node very close to being deployed; recent update on Threads:

So, the LeoNode is already active! I won't hard refresh since I am writing my post right now, but I'll do it after I publish it.

What else?

  • well, a "Related Posts" section was supposed to be added to long-form posts, but after a short trial, I guess they were pulled back because I don't see them anymore at this time

Also, I noticed that:

I checked back a couple of days, and every day INLEO created at least 20 new accounts. Is that enough? Remains to be seen, but there is some consistency here. Hopefully, at least 15-20% of them remain active over time.

DBuzz Applies For the Continuation of Their Funding From the DAO for Another 6 Months

When someone sees @DBuzz, they might be tempted to associate that with the short-form content platform on Hive that was at one time in the crossfires because their top-level short posts triggered votes from auto-voters.

I believe the problem with the auto-voters was solved long time ago, even more, they now have their own auto-vote service based on the code of @mahdiyari for hive.vote, but with keychain support.

If someone reads their proposal, they can see DBuzz has been one of the very active teams on Hive, and their platform development is just one of their activities with direct or indirect impact on Hive. It helps that they have a well-written proposal, in my opinion, that clearly emphasizes their accomplishments and what the future funding is for.

About the amount asked for... I guess there will always be debates when it comes to accounting and how money is spent.

3Speak Mobile App Update

There is a mobile app update from 3Speak, with all the changes described in their post.

Also, I've been trying to find time to listen to last week's CTT the whole week. No luck so far. :) Maybe you are luckier if you haven't listened to it! Here's the link.

Clive - Governance and Savings-Related Operations Added to CLI

Another update of the Clive interface added the governance and savings-related operations. This post describes them in detail.

Games

Splinterlands Updates

The year in review, a high-level overview of 2024, SoulKeep, and the next priorities for Land were the main points of discussion of the Town Hall.

Part 4 of the Land 2.0 whitepaper draft was released. It's about storage, markets, and desalinization. I believe at least another part should follow about Castles, Keeps and the Secret of Praetoria.

Holozing Creature Background Contest

Holozing is one of the games still unplayable that generates serious interest among Hivers. And its contests always attract talented people. So, here's another chance, to create the backgrounds for the creatures and win some nice prizes.

Rise of the Pixels Updates

Earlier this week, the RotP - as I've seen it abbreviated - team published an update on the beta development progress.

And in the last 24 hours, they published another update regarding the rewards beta testers receive on Rise of the Pixels: studio reputation for unopened packs (packs can't be opened yet on the main server, only on the test server).

Meetings / Events / Communities

Not much was going on that I caught in this area, but maybe you'd like to see something from the "Copa Hive 2" event, one of the events Hive sponsored in South America, where the Street Workout Community participated.

Philanthropy

If you want to see the video from the launch of the 14th Borehole in Ghana, here it is.

Week in the Crypto World

Bitcoin ETFs Ad War

Bitcoin spot ETFs weren't officially approved, but the ad war has already started. Bitwise shot first, with two other ads being leaked shortly after.

"If You Are In Crypto, You Are a Criminal". Really?

I looked at this diagonally and had a good laugh! How about flipping the "narrative"? If you're not in crypto, you're either a criminal (legally or morally) or a foul. Take your pick!
