Mark the Day: November 1st - Launch of Leo Ad Revenue

My family keeps asking me what I want for my approaching birthday. Khal didn't ask 🤣, but started to deliver. More and more consistently, and with a roadmap to keep him and his team busy for the next 10 years, he said at one time. Never underestimate the benefits of focusing or overestimate your capacity to distribute your attention to many things at once!

And yes, the beginning of the distribution of ad revenue at the beginning of November is a great present for my upcoming birthday, lol.

The announcements regarding the ad revenue and a premium tier for InLeo were made in this week's AMA. This is something you should watch or listen to if you are interested in either topic because you can find out more from there than I will talk about in this post. Also, there is more information about the recent rebranding if you need to catch up with the updates...

All details below are after listening to the AMA recording, so they are fresh in my mind, but it is possible maybe I didn't hear/understand something correctly at the first audition. One more reason to listen to the original...

Premium Upgrade for InLeo

Khal said that the premium upgrade will have a small benefit regarding the algorithm, unlike X where non-upgraded members seem to be highly penalized. The benefits of InLeo premium will be cosmetic (reddish check) and some added features that won't be available for free members (the example given was AI integration for reading posts like PeakD has).

The upgrade will be purchasable in HBD only and will be used to buy bLEO and bHIVE on BSC and add them to the bLEO-bHIVE pool on CubFinance forever (without the possibility of withdrawing - the LPs will be burned). That will give higher and higher depth to this pool in time.

Ad Revenue Distribution

Ad revenue will be distributed in two ways:

  1. to LEO stakeholders
  2. to evergreen content

1. Distributing Ad Revenue to LEO Stakeholders

This will be similar in effect to how HP is distributed to HP stakeholders, but the mechanism is different. While for HP stakeholders this interest adjustment or whatever it is called comes out from HIVE inflation. For LEO, the distribution comes from LEO purchased from the market with funds from the ad revenue.

2. Distributing Ad Revenue to Evergreen Content

A separate category of ad revenue is distributed to long-form content authors using the InLeo platform who surpass a certain number of views every month. This is cumulative, and all content that used Leo interfaces to publish is indexed. If someone doesn't make the minimum number of views monthly (undisclosed limit yet), the respective ad revenue will redistributed to LEO stakeholders instead.

The two categories are non-exclusive, meaning one can receive revenue both for evergreen content and as a LEO stakeholder.

Time to Make Sure Our Best Content Is Being Viewed

Maybe we haven't put in enough effort to make sure our content is being viewed by more people through the InLeo interface yet and beyond the 7-day payout window. If we want a portion of the evergreen content rewards, this will most likely be a must going forward.

I'll probably publish the initial draft of an index with posts I wrote via Leofinance (almost all of them) that I believe may be worth adding to such a collection and create some interest in the future.

It will be a long process, but I have to start from somewhere.
