Movies like this Interest me so much that I purposely watch them at night to better enjoy sound effects when everyone is asleep and everywhere is quiet. This movie was released last November 2021 and starred actors and actresses like Robbie Amell, Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, TomHopper, and others. It's an action-horror movie that was written and directed by Johannes Roberts and adapted from the first and second game created by Capcorn.

'Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City' serves as a reboot of the popular 'Resident Evil Series' in which Milla Jovovich was the main character. This movie is also the seventh action film that is solely based on a video game. The movie was distributed by Sony Pictures, Elevation Pictures, and Constantin Film. Watching this movie was thrilling and intense for me.

Little Synopsis
The setting of this movie was set in 1998 and revolved around a small group of people who had to work together to survive an outbreak of a deadly virus from a pharmaceutical company called Umbrella Corporation.

It started back in the 1980s when Chris and his younger sister Claire lived in the Raccoon city orphanage house which was overseen by Doctor William Birkin (Neal McDonough) who uses the children for experimentations under the name of Umbrella corporations. As time went by, Claire was separated from her brother to be experimented on, but she wasn't going to give that up easily, so she escaped and left the city.

In 1998, Claire returned to Raccoon City to see her brother but hitched a ride from a truck driver. On the way to the city, Claire and the truck got talking and the truck driver was distracted after which he hit a woman who came out from nowhere. They both went down to check on her and then they got into an argument they were unaware the woman had turned into a zombie and walked into the forest close by, disappearing. Then the truck driver's dog came to lick some of the woman's blood on the ground and that was it. Claire got to her brother's house and then broke in by picking the locks while the truck driver and his dog infected each with the virus. That was how the virus started to spread and the city was in chaos which triggered the self-destruct protocol set by the umbrella corporation which was meant to happened in few hours before dawn.

Doctor William took his wife and daughter to his secret lab underground where he performed all his experimentation to secure all his work. One of the alpha teams of the Raccoon City Police department caught the doctor on the verge of running away and requested he surrender the upgraded virus he had with him called the G-virus.

As both struggled there was a couple gunshot exchange that cost doctor Williams his life and his wife's. But then before he died, he injected himself with the G-virus which later transformed him into a disgusting monster. Will there be survivors before the city self-destructs? Let me not spill the beans.

My Opinion and Rating

This movie is full of action and it is quite intense. If you don't have the heart for zombie movies, don't watch this. I enjoyed every scene in this movie and also I had a good laugh in some scenes. This movie made me think, what if this happened for real, how would we handle this, do we fight back or let the virus devour us. I would fight to my last breath because I don't give up easily.

This movie made me realize that we are not far from this movie becoming our reality because lots of things are happening underground that we don't know of and the Scientists are working hard on playing God and also playing with things that are meant to stay buried. One thing I learned was, that without loyal teamwork, there won't be success or progress.

The setting of the movie was amazing, and the scenes were well planned and directed. The actors played their roles well and from the look of things, it's like they had fun while playing their roles. I would say the director did a fantastic job and I think from the look of things, a sequel is cooking. Rating this movie, I am giving it 4 stars and would recommend this movie to action, horror, and apocalyptic movie lovers.
