If there is anything that is loved by all, it will certainly be music. There is probably no single being that could speak of not at least loving a particular type or genre of music. Music as a matter of fact touches every aspect of the human person, be it social, emotional or even cultural. It in fact play a very crucial role in shaping individual and collective identities. Considering what music is to the society, we cannot obviously exempt the youth from all of these since they are the backbone of the society. It could in fact be said that what ever influence music have on the youth is by implication extended to the society at large.

Just like I have already established, I am of the opinion that the influence of music on the youth is same as the influence of music on the society. That notwithstanding, the youth shall remain our subject matter for the purpose of this very prompt.
POSITIVE INFLUENCE OF MUSIC ON THE YOUTH
SocialIn almost every activity of the society, the youths are majorly involved and that includes musical activities like concerts and festivals. Considering the effects of these kinds of musical activities, it could be said that music through these activities fosters social bounding amongst the youth and the society at large.
EmotionalThe formation of the youth is highly important to the future of the society and that includes his emotional formation. We are no doubt aware of the importance of good music to the mind. When it is the case then that a youth allows his or her emotions to formed by good music, he or she will no doubt impact positively to the society.
CulturalI may not have been to the western world, but I have a grasp of her culture through her music. That is simple what music does, it have a way of presenting a people's way of life through their music. By listening to music of different genre, the youths are pillaged to encounter other ways of life. It by extension bring about exposure to other cultures even before ever encountering them.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF MUSIC ON THE YOUTHS
As a result of what they hear from music, young people might become influenced either negatively or positively but it becomes a problem when they get influenced negatively. The most prominent of the negative effects of music on the youth is unhealthy role model and celebrity culture. It is common for youths to be at the fore front of trends, these trends are sometimes prompted by music celebrities whom these youths have taken as role model. The influence of these trends are most times negative and that is the problem. By following the footsteps of these celebrities and by filling their minds with harmful lyrics, young people tend to develop an awful mindset and ideology. All of these in turn harmfully affect the society. Just like I have earlier established, the youths are the backbone of the society and the quality of their mindset and ideology determines the future of the society.
